As the 21st century approaches the research in Experimental High
Energy Physics
at Texas A&M University is focusing on several of the most exciting
questions that
remain to be solved in this field. With the growing success of the
"Standard Model"
in explaining the interactions between the elementary particles, we are
hopeful
that in the not too distant future we may have a comprehensive "theory
of everything"
(TOE) which will be able to describe and unify all of the fundamental
forces into a single theory. Once such a theory is known particle
physics experimenters will
continue to carryout precision experiments in an effort to verify its
validity .
In the meantime, there are a number of pressing experimental questions
which will have a significant impact on the form of this ultimate
particle theory (TOE) and the experimental high energy physicists at
Texas A&M are heavily involved in effort to answer these questions.
